Dear St. Teresa families and friends,
On behalf of Msgr. David Darin and the St. Teresa School Board, I am happy to announce that, effective immediately, Msgr. Darin has named Mrs. Sandy Jouglard the permanent Principal of St. Teresa School, at the recommendation of the School Board.
This concludes a process that began in August, 2018 when Mrs. Jouglard was named Interim Principal following the resignation of Mr. Birdsong when he was named Diocesan Superintendent of Schools. At that time, Msgr. Darin and the School Board formed a search committee in accordance with Diocesan policy. This committee was comprised of School Board members, School Faculty, Parish Staff, Parish Trustees, parents and grandparents of current students Grades 1-8, and school alumni.
The committee met in the Fall to outline criteria for selecting a Principal, and to develop a timeline for the search. The position was posted on the Diocesan website, and advertisements were placed in several publications. The Diocesan Education office also notified area schools, parishes, the Regional Office of Education, several area universities, as well as Religious Orders. Applications were accepted until February 1, and four qualified candidates, including Mrs. Jouglard, were interviewed by the committee in early February.
After the interviews, the committee reviewed the applications as well as feedback and correspondence from the school and parish community. The committee met on February 14 and unanimously recommended Mrs. Jouglard to the School Board, and this recommendation was accepted by the School Board on February 19. Msgr. Darin accepted the School Board’s recommendation.
We believe that Mrs. Jouglard will continue to provide strong leadership for the next several years at St. Teresa School. She brings over 30 years of experience in public education and administration to the table, but she has developed a passion and commitment to Catholic education during the past several years serving on the St. Teresa School Board and most recently as Interim Principal. We are excited to make this announcement today.
Mike Nash and the St. Teresa School Board
